Timeline.
Skipso designed and deployed software platforms to support and power some of the most prestigious innovation programs in the world. Over the years we have worked with and built close relationships with top corporates, leading universities, government agencies, accelerators as well as leading not for profit organizations. We see our clients as an extension of our team and we work with them closely to help them get the most out of our platform.
We became inspired to start Skipso after reading: The World is Flat by Thomas L.Friedman, Wikinomics by D. Tapscott and A. Williams and The Dawn of the E-Lance Economy by T. Malone and R. Laubacher.
When we started Skipso (Sustainable Knowledge and Innovation for the Planet, Society and Organizations), our initial focus was on Cleantech. We grew it to become one of the largest Cleantech platforms and communities globally.
In 2009 we launched our first innovation challenge, the “Rwanda Rural Electrification Challenge”. We helped Swiss NGO Mabawa crowdsource solutions to bring electricity to a rural village in Rwanda using renewable energy sources.
In 2010 we launched our first white-label innovation platform powering the Finnish Cleantech Cluster. The focus was still on Cleantech, however we started moving away from building our own community and started focusing on building a powerful SaaS platform.
After the successful take off of our white-label cleantech platform, we decided to develop the platform to support any sector. Skipso began powering innovation platforms for organizations in Fintech, Foodtech, Fashiontech, ICT, Nanotech, Insuretech, Biotech and Regtech.
We kept expanding our platform functionality and proposition by adding community and content management into a new innovation ecosystem module allowing organizations to implement fully fledged solutions bringing together all their different stakeholders.
Skipso was selected by the prestigious XPRIZE Foundation, the world leader in incentivized prize competitions, to drive radical breakthroughs for the benefit of humanity, to become the platform of choice to power their prizes.
Skipso is the first innovation management software provider to offer a multi-tenant solution. This allows clients to have multiple connected micro-sites for their different business units or partner organizations/initiatives.
Skipso continued its international growth establishing presence in the US, Switzerland, Italy, Mexico, Greece and India, in addition to its UK headquarters.
Skipso began offering a full stack of software solutions to manage any type of innovation program. Powerful enough to manage individual programs and modular enough to create a complete unified innovation system.
