An introduction to our Awards Management Platform for Syngenta

Our team assists Syngenta in managing their biennial internal Awards program with a dedicated, branded, and customizable online platform. About Syngenta’s Awards Program
Syngenta is a world-leading agribusiness committed to sustainable agriculture through innovative research and technology. The company is a leader in crop protection and ranks third in the high-value commercial seeds market.
The Syngenta Awards is a biennial program aimed at recognizing, celebrating, and sharing the outstanding achievements of Syngenta teams and individuals for projects that exemplify Syngenta’s purpose - Bringing plant potential to life. It is an internal initiative, accessible to Syngenta’s 40,000+ employees globally.
Prior to engaging Skipso, Syngenta had been managing and running the Awards Program for 7 years using an internal, bespoke, platform.
The in-house solution presented limitations in terms of functionality, customization and flexibility required to manage such a complex program. For this reason, Syngenta’s internal communications team decided to engage an external partner who could provide a pain-free awards management platform. The goal was to streamline and automate the end-to-end process for Awards managers, participants and judges.
Key requirements included:
- Supporting high volumes of traffic from all over the world (including low bandwidth countries)
- Providing ongoing management and support throughout the program
- A flexible solution allowing frequent changes to the workflow
- A comprehensive support model for all stakeholders involved
- Allowing employees to access the platform via Single Sign-On (SSO)
- Improving the overall look and feel following Syngenta’s branding guidelines
- Reducing the administrative overhead of managing the Awards program
- Advanced analytics to allow the team to extract and export useful data on an ongoing basis
Skipso worked very closely with the Syngenta internal communications team in the build-up to the awards program launch. This allowed us to implement a highly customized platform both in terms of design as well as in terms of functionality.
The complexity of the awards program was supported by our configurable workflow engine that allowed to customize every single step of the process for all stakeholders involved: Syngenta administrators, participating teams as well as the judges.
Our user-friendly form builder allowed to create and support an extremely complex, multi-phase form that included conditional formatting, multiple notification to participants, auto-save functionality as well as compliance checks at each step of the process.
A private and secure admin console allowed Awards administrators to closely monitor and manage every aspect of the program: users, applications, judging process, reports and analytics.
The judging process was supported by our dedicated judging application, accessible to assigned judges only. We provided an end to end solution inclusive of configurable scorecards, multi-region and multi-phase rating systems, exportable summaries and ratings.
The final step of the Awards program included sending all participants certificates of recognition with names of all team members and with a very specific layout consistent with Syngenta’s branding guidelines.

Since launching and implementing the first Awards platform for Syngenta two years ago, Skipso has been working very closely with Syngenta’s internal communications team to keep refining and improving the tool. This iterative process, which included gathering ongoing feedback from the different stakeholders as well as insights from our experienced team, has allowed us to create an even stronger partnership with Syngenta.
